A snake expert has shared the grim details of a mother’s death after her body was found inside a 20ft python.

Mark O’Shea has spoken out on the disturbing death of Farida, 50, who was found inside of a snake in Indonesia. She had vanished while walking in the woods alone to a local market in the town of Kalimpong. Her husband, Noni, 55, had launched a frantic search with other locals in the hopes of finding his wife.

She was soon found in the body of a bloated snake which was opened up with a machete. Farida was confirmed dead upon her discovery on June 6. Expert Mr O’Shea has since revealed the killing of Farida will have been “very fast”.

Speaking to TMZ, he said: “The killing will have been very fast. Whether it did crawl up behind her – there is no witnesses so the idea that it crawled up behind and grabbed her is less likely. These snakes hunt from ambush. They wait beside game trails where they will often take a prey mammal going down the trail. If that happens to be a person they will hit them with the mouth and immediately be coiling up around them and constricting them.”

Several snake attacks had been reported in Indonesia, with Noni apologising to his family in a statement after Farida was found. He said: “I am forever sorry that I let my wife go out alone. If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her. I feel sorry for the suffering she went through. I am sorry for our family.”

Despite the horror death, expert Mr O’Shea claims Farida will have been “thankfully unaware” of the constriction as the tightness will have made her pass out. Suardi Rose, head of the village, said: “We have warned everybody to be careful when they walk through the woods. Women should be accompanied by someone.”

But expert Mr O’Shea says the death will have been “quite quick.” He said: “People used to think they broke all the bones but that’s not the purpose of constriction. Then it was the idea they squeezed you so tight that you couldn’t breathe and you suffocated, that’s not how constriction works.

“Constriction actually works because the coils are so tight they actually stop your circulation. They can actually be so tight they squeeze blood to both ends of the body. You end up passing out and dying of, probably, a heart attack, because your circulatory system has been so constricted by the snake. Unconsciousness is probably a matter of seconds, less than a minute. The shock would play into that as well.”
