A mum-to-be has told social media she needs help coming up with good baby names because her husband’s ‘terrible’ suggestions are driving her crazy and he won’t stop

Picking out a baby name should be a team effort. If both parents are involved in raising a child, they should both have an equal say over what the little one is called.

While you might have a name you’ve been dreaming of using for years, if you partner doesn’t like it, then it shouldn’t be used. Deciding on a baby name you both like might be tricky, but it needs to be done so that both parents can be happy and not harbour any resentment toward the moniker when the baby is born.

One mum-to-be is currently in the process of trying to convince her husband not to use a “terrible” name for their child, and has pleaded with people on social media to come up with suggestions she can give him to put a stop to his “crazy train” of bizarre ideas that she can’t stand.

The mum said she’s still “months away” from welcoming her baby, but she’s starting to consider names. She also explained that her spouse loves names beginning with K, especially if they make a “hard phonetic” K sound. But so far, the names he’s suggested haven’t gone down too well with her.

In a post on Reddit, she said: “My husband’s really killing me on his baby boy names. Even though we are months away, I need to stop this crazy train before we get any closer. His (truly) preferred boy names are Krillin and Keanu. He prefers a ‘K’ name with a hard phonetic ‘K’.

“I am the complete opposite, loving names like Grayson and Theodore. What’s a name that’s not a tragedy!?! I’m okay with a name without the ‘K’, but I’d love to hear suggestions to fit something more traditional and a less terrible ‘K’ alternative. Help my life – please!”

Commenters on the post were quick to offer alternative names to the mum that could still satisfy her husband’s obsession with K names. Popular suggestions included Kieran, Killian, Kenneth, Kaleb, and Kellen.

Others criticised the names her husband had picked. Many said Krillin sounded like a superhero movie villain, while others pointed out it is actually a fictional character from the Dragon Ball anime.

In a follow-up comment, the mum stated: “I so appreciate all these recommendations and the general hatred for Krillin. Yes, it’s from Dragon Ball Z. And yes, that makes it even lamer than the name itself. I’m trying to find a compromise since I love a silly silly man, but I’ll be forever pregnant before I birth a Krillin!”
