A homeowner who plays the same song on repeat all day has infuriated their neighbour, who says the noise is ‘driving me insane.’ Taking to social media to complain about the inconsiderate behaviour, the upset resident explained the noise has been constant for the past few weeks.

Posting on Reddit’s r/neighborsfromhell, the post’s author claimed: “My neighbor has been blasting this one song, “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO, pretty much every day for the last few weeks. And I don’t mean playing it a few times here and there. I mean like on repeat, super loud, from the afternoon until the evening. The bass literally shakes my walls.

“At first I thought it was kind of funny, like who still listens to that song? But now it’s just torture. I know every single word and beat by heart even when it’s not playing. It’s stuck in my head all the time.”

Unfortunately, the resident’s attempts to resolve the issue amicably didn’t help matters. “I tried asking him to turn it down once and he just smiled and said: “It’s a banger, right?” Then closed the door. No joke. I’ve complained to the landlord but nothing has changed.

“I work from home so I’m stuck with this soundtrack all day. Even noise-cancelling headphones don’t help much because the whole house vibrates,” they shared.

It was then that the resident turned to social media to seek advice from people who have dealt with a similar problem in the past. The post concluded: “Honestly thinking about blasting ‘Let It Go’ on repeat just to mess with him but I’m worried it will just get worse.

“Anyway, just needed to get this off my chest before I lose it. Anyone else dealt with a neighbor like this?” In response, commenters suggested the resident should give their neighbour a taste of his own medicine.

One viewer said: “I believe the common Reddit advice is to queue up the same song, play it loudly but with a few seconds of lag.” The post’s author replied: “Sounds like a clever way to mess with someone without being straight-up rude. Still not sure I have the patience to set that up though.”

Someone else offered a song suggestion, writing: “Time for Baby Shark.” The resident replied: “Haha, ‘Baby Shark’ sounds like the perfect counterattack.”

Citizens Advice sets out the steps you can take if your neighbour is making too much noise. If you’re comfortable doing so, speak to your neighbour first. You could also contact their landlord if the problem is not resolved and they’re a tenant.

If the problem persists, it’s advised to keep a record of the disturbance and how often it happens. If you don’t have any success with an informal approach, contact your local council. The environmental health department may be able to help.
