New figures revealing the latest Covid-19 case numbers across the country show a stark contrast between regions.

Infection rates were almost 11 cases for every 100,000 people in one area, while others reported no instances at all. Carlisle currently tops the list with the highest Covid rates, recording 10.88 cases per 100,000 residents. Close behind is Waverley, with 9.31 cases per 100,000.

Elsewhere, several places including Brighton, Burnley, and Hartlepool, reported no confirmed instances of the virus. However, it’s important to remember these numbers reflect only reported and confirmed cases – many people may not be testing or reporting their results, meaning the true number could be significantly higher.

The latest Covid-19 data released by the UK Health Security Agency showed a 4.3% spike in cases, but a drop in the number of deaths from the virus.
