Shoppers can appear to have an expensive designer bag without spending a three-figure sum
New Look shoppers could bag themselves a bargain – but feel like they’ve invested in a little piece of luxury with the latest bags to hit the shelves. At a passing glance, people might think you’ve spent £140 on a bag that, in reality, cost much less.
The high street store has released a small range of unassuming bags that might not seem overly appealing to those without an eye for luxury fashion. But, some might mistake New Look’s Contrast Trim range for pricier French brand Longchamp.
Shoppers can pick from two colours – either navy blue or cream. Both versions have the brown leather-look handle which is what helped it gain the comparison to the luxury French brand.
You can pick whatever size suits your style and needs. For £17.99, you could own the Mini Crossbody Bag version which has a removable strap, leaving you with a compact handbag.
Or, for £25.99, shoppers could get the Navy Contrast Trim Backpack. Currently, the brand only has a navy option for sale.
People were able to see what the bags looked like in person when a TikTok user (@rubyroebuckk) spotted them in a local New Look store whilst shopping. She wrote over the clip: “New Look’s Longchamp [alternatives] are here girls!”
The shopper added in the caption: “These are actually so much better than the Primark ones from a few months! And the colours?! Literally the same as the original Longchamp bags!”
Shoppers might not be getting the designer label like Longchamp – but saving £114 on a backpack that looks very similar to a £140 version has got to feel a little bit good.
Other social media users quickly responded to the finds, claiming they’d be running to the closest shop as soon as possible. Students were especially impressed with the bags, claiming it was both stylish and practical.
One said: “I have one of the bigger ones for sixth form. It fits loads with plenty of space left!”
Another wrote: “I have the big navy handbag and use it for college. Got it in September and its lasted really well. I carry heavy books in it and there is no signs of it falling apart anytime soon!”
But, it wasn’t just those off to classes that loved the bag. A third person commented: “So cute! I need one!”
And, someone else put: “I got the backpack today!” Meanwhile, a fifth added: “I love mine real bad!”
