A nutritionist shared one of her top tips for a healthy gut that will help you improve your digestion. This is an easy habit to get into and will only take a minute of your morning

Boosting your gut health might be as simple as sipping on a drink.

We all strive to live a healthier lifestyle, and while a balanced diet with regular exercise are essential, there’s more to it than that. One often overlooked aspect is gut health. Ensuring you’re consuming the right nutrients at the right time can make a significant difference in your overall wellbeing.

According to one nutrition expert, there’s an easy and cost-effective way to improve your gut health without overhauling your daily routine. The solution lies in starting your day with a specific drink that’s readily available to everyone.

Gianna recently shared her top three tips for a healthier gut on TikTok, with her first suggestion being to drink “warm water” every morning before beginning your day. For an extra boost, she recommends adding an “electrolyte powder” to the water, but even just drinking the warm water on its own can help stimulate digestion.

The nutritionist shared her wisdom: “Drink warm water on an empty stomach. I do about 32oz (910ml). You’re going to want to add some sort of electrolyte powder to that drink.

“You could also pink Himalayan salt and lemon juice, maybe some apple cider vinegar. Not only will the drink hydrate you and make you feel good, but it will also help restore your natural fluid balance and help your digestion just by getting things moving and releasing toxins.”

Moreover, she stressed that morning coffee should never be consumed on its own. It’s not a call to ditch the caffeine fix, but rather a suggestion to pair it with a “well-balanced breakfast”.

“Eat a well-balanced breakfast alongside or before your coffee,” she counselled. “We are no longer drinking coffee on an empty stomach; this is one of the worst things you could be doing if you’re trying to balance out your hormones. Not only are you overloading your adrenals, but you’re also sending a cortisol spike throughout your body.”

Gianna also emphasised the benefits of incorporating some physical activity in the AM pattern. She mentioned how vital it is to kick start the day with movement, saying it can “immensely help your digestion” as it gets the blood flowing post-slumber.

Commenters were quick to praise and plan on implementing these strategies “as soon as possible” with numerous shout-outs for the sound advice. One follower enthused: “Love these tips! Yes, no coffee before food! I switched that, and wow, what a difference!”

Another added with enthusiasm: “Absolutely crucial! Incorporating these habits can truly boost your gut health and hormone balance.”
