Noel and Liam Gallagher’s first official public photograph taken together since Oasis split is expected to be more epic after the brothers decided not to rehearse together, it is said.

Rehearsals for the much-anticipated reunion began on Tuesday, the Mirror revealed, but frontman Liam, 52, was not present, it is understood. He isn’t expected to join 57-year-old sibling Noel, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell until next month “for a rehearsal or two” before the tour starts in Cardiff.

It means it is likely the first official picture of the once-warring brothers in almost 16 years will be taken as they emerge at the Principality Stadium – a poignant moment after such colourful history. It is reported by The Sun the brothers are determined for this to unravel, and so are keen not to be seen together yet. A source told the publication: “Noel and Liam want to control that. There’s no chance you’ll see them together before that day if they can help it.”

It’s understood the last “live” photographs of the Gallaghers in the official Oasis capacity were taken at Oasis’ final gig – at V Festival in Weston Park, Staffordshire on August 22, 2009.

Noel and the rest of the band – minus Liam – were reportedly rehearsing for hours a top-secret studio in London at least two days this week. Liam is said to be in his bolthole in the south of France.

The band source told The Sun: “Noel and Liam are rehearsing separately for now and won’t be going into a studio together until next month… They’re all total masters of their craft, so it’s more about nailing down the finer details and making sure they’re all in sync.

“Once Noel has finished up, Liam will be coming in to rehearse with the band. The brothers will then get together — it’ll be the whole of Oasis then — for a rehearsal or two, and then they’ll be ready to go.”

Following the brief final rehearsals, the band will kick off their huge tour on July 4 at the Principality Stadium, a massive moment in the music industry, likely to be documented in phorographs worldwide.

It emerged earlier month Bell, the 54-year-old bassist, will reunite with the brothers for the tour. Since Oasis’ split in 2009, Bell has been impressing fans with his own band, Ride, and so it was unclear whether the musician would be part of the Gallagher’s sell-out return.

Bell, who joined Oasis in 2000 to replace Paul McGuigan, said: “I’m in and I’m really looking forward to it. We’ll see each other on tour. Or rather, you’ll see me – I’ll hardly be able to see you in the audience.”
