Alliance Online has revealed the towns and cities in Scotland with the cheapest pints of beer, with one destination coming in at just £3.25 on average for a pint
With Christmas fast approaching, for many it is the perfect time to book a UK getaway. Some areas of Scotland are perfect to visit this time of the year, whether that be with family, friends or solo!
While cold there are plenty of sights to see and activities to do in the many Scottish towns and cities. There’s also a plethora of pubs, inns and eateries serving up beer, with some areas offering cheaper pints than others.
To determine the price differences, Alliance Online conducted research into the average cost of a beer in various towns and cities across the nation. According to their findings, Kilmarnock is the most affordable place for a pint in Scotland, with an average price of £3.25. The town, located in East Ayrshire, boasts more than 30 pubs and bars.
Dunfermline and Glenrothes follow closely behind as the second-cheapest locations for a pint, with an average cost of £3.40. Completing the top five are Ayr and Falkirk, where the average pint will set you back £3.50.
Dundee also made it onto Alliance Online’s list of the top 10 cheapest places for a pint, with an average price of £3.67. Meanwhile, punters can expect to pay around £4 in Cumbernauld, Greenock, and Stirling, reports the Daily Record. Rounding off the top 10 is Inverness, where the average pint costs £4.02.
Rachael Kiss, from Alliance Online, said: “Our study shows that customers can still very much get a bargain beer if they look for one, with the cost of a pint varying depending on where you live in the UK. We were surprised to see such low prices in unexpected places that have well-reviewed local pubs.
“This is good news for locals and tourists alike! It is worth noting that no matter how cheap establishments price their beer, cleanliness of beer lines should remain a top priority. This is because not cleaning beer lines properly could risk a poor food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.”
