Last year, an eight-year-old boy died after falling from a window in a house in Nottingham.

Hamid Balal died in hospital following the tragic incident at around 7.15pm at his home in Costock Avenue, Sherwood on September 18.

The boy was taken to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham but could not be saved.

Chief Inspector Jon Scurr, of Nottinghamshire Constabulary, said: “This is a tragic and devastating loss of life and our thoughts are with the boy’s family and loved ones.

“I would like to thank those that have already reported information to us, and would urge anyone who hasn’t yet done so, to please make contact as soon as possible.

“We are acutely aware that incidents of this nature are incredibly distressing for all concerned, and are felt by the entire community.”

An inquest opened at Nottingham Council House on Monday, March 3 and was told a post mortem found Hamid had died from a head injury.
