Lydia Barker, 34, and Billy Brown, 44, used to have ‘amazing’ sex ‘morning, noon and night’ but after being slapped with an official noise complaint, the pair say their sex life has never been the same

A couple whose neighbours lodged an official noise complaint about their sex being “too loud” say they’ve been forced to move house – and that their sex life has suffered massively.

Lydia Barker and Billy Brown used to have “amazing” sex “morning, noon and night” but after being closely monitored by their social housing provider, the pair say their sex life has never been the same. They moved out of their semi-detached home in Somerset last year after sex became “virtually impossible” due to the complaints, which were officially lodged in 2022.

A letter from the couple’s housing association Stonewater reportedly said: “You and your partner can be heard having sexual relations.” Lydia, 34, and Billy, 44, also claimed they heard one of the complainants having sex with her partner even louder than they did.

“Sex with Billy has never been the same since. We used to do it morning, noon and night and it was amazing. But when the complaint came in it really impacted it for both of us,” Lydia told MailOnline. “Billy has not been the same since. So we had to move. Having a local who has gone to extreme lengths to report us to our housing association really puts us off. I was worried about making too much noise.

“I was using a gobstopper for a while. That was to quieten me down. It just became something we were thinking about a lot when it should be something to get rid of stress and worry. It’s been a big part of our relationship.”

Billy added: “It was always in my mind thinking if we get complaints again. It has knocked me off my stride. I worry I have not been as good as I was because I don’t want the stress. We’ve moved and now we don’t want to upset our new neighbours. We have been careful.”

Th couple claim their neighbours were having sex even louder than they were, but they never complained. Despite moving just a few streets away, Lydia and Billy say their sex life has still not recovered. Lydia said they now put the TV on because they’re worried about upsetting the new neighbours.

She added: “We’re still a very strong couple and love each other a lot. But Billy complains he does not get the same amount of sex as he used to. It’s the most natural thing in the world. I don’t understand why people would get so upset and put out by it all.”
