Oxfordshire Entrepreneur Leads Eco-Friendly Shift in Pest Control Through Bee-Saving Campaign

By staff22 May 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Eradikil UK Ltd founder Shane-Daniel North is taking bold steps to revolutionise the UK’s pest control industry—replacing extermination with sustainable hive relocation, supported by public donations.

Founded in 2022, Eradikil UK Ltd is an Oxfordshire-based pest control firm that stands apart for its ethical, environmentally friendly mission. With the climate crisis and biodiversity loss accelerating, Shane’s approach couldn’t be more timely.

Hive removal costs can spiral up to £10,000 due to the complex access work required. Faced with these high fees, many property owners resort to toxic chemical extermination—a route that may save money but causes significant ecological harm.

“Destroying a hive doesn’t just eliminate one colony, it risks poisoning other bee populations,” said Shane.

“Bees are natural scavengers. If honey contaminated with insecticide is left behind, nearby colonies may steal it, causing secondary die-offs. Worse still, this honey can then enter the human food chain.”

Having worked in pest control for nearly 10 years, Shane has built a reputation for relocating hives rather than destroying them. He’s only used chemical treatment twice, both under strict circumstances involving immediate human risk.

His GoFundMe initiative Help Me Help The Bees invites the public to support his mission. Donations help cover the cost of removals so property owners aren’t forced to choose between saving bees and saving money. The process is also documented on YouTube via @EradikilPestControl to spread awareness and spark conversation.

All rescued hives are moved to Eradikil’s in-house apiary, where they continue to contribute to the ecosystem and produce honey.

“I believe in solving pest issues through sustainable methods, not destruction,” Shane said. “This campaign is about giving people a better option.”

Shane’s deep respect for animals dates back to childhood, even though his academic journey was challenged by undiagnosed ADHD and dyslexia. After exploring over 25 different careers, he finally found his calling in pest control.

“People often ask how I can be a pest controller if I love animals so much,” he reflects. “The answer is simple; my job is to control, not destroy.”

Now, Shane is expanding operations beyond Oxfordshire and has ambitious growth plans. He recently shared with Professional Pest Controller magazine his vision to scale up the team, invest in content creation, and establish a hands-on teaching centre for sustainable pest management and bee conservation.

“Every animal and insect plays a role in our ecosystem,” Shane says. “Bees are irreplaceable. If we lose them, we lose far more than honey, we lose the very foundation of our food systems. I want to leave a legacy of sustainable practice and education.”

Eradikil UK Ltd continues to build its reputation as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking and environmentally responsible pest control firms.
