Take Me Out presenter Paddy McGuinness has opened up about his home life and how one thing has changed since he became a dad to his three children with his ex-Christine

Paddy McGuinness has offered a rare glimpse into his personal life, nearly three years after separating from his wife Christine, the mother of his three children.

The father-of-three discussed how one particular habit has evolved over recent years as he navigated his home life and childcare responsibilities: “Before the kids, I used to dread Mondays because it was back to work,” Paddy shared with the Guardian.

The Take Me Out host revealed that he has “got his life back” after one significant change at home: “Now Mondays are the day where you get your life back – at least between 9am and 3pm, when they’re at school. Monday for me is: ‘Let’s do what I’ve not been able to do over the weekend.’ “

In 2022, the couple announced their separation in a joint statement: “A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus was as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.

“This was not an easy decision to make but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children. We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.”

Speaking to the Times after they had announced their split, Christine said: “Those years that I missed out on friendships, I thought I was fine. I didn’t realise how sad and lonely I was. It’s only recently, as I’ve been doing more, I’m like, ‘Wow, there’s a whole life to live out there that I didn’t know existed’ because I very much stayed at home.”

Despite parting ways nearly three years ago, Paddy and the Real Housewives of Cheshire star reportedly continue to cohabit for the benefit of their three children, all of whom are on the autism spectrum.

Rising to stardom in the early 2000s with the aid of beloved comedian Peter Kay, he featured alongside the comic in his That Peter Kay Thing and Phoenix Nights in the same year. Paddy’s career continued to soar with numerous TV appearances following, reports the Liverpool Echo.

He tied the knot with model and TV personality Christine in June 2011, and together they had three children Leo, Penelope and Felicity, before announcing their split in 2022.

Paddy is set to make a comeback on TV tonight (Tuesday, January 7) in BBC One’s Inside The Factory at 8pm, where he will star alongside Cherry Healey as they delve into some of the nation’s largest food producing factories, including the Warburtons factory in Paddy’s hometown of Bolton where he worked over 30 years ago.
