Paul Pogba has spent time on the sidelines after being dealt a drugs ban and Juventus – whom he joined after leaving Manchester United – have ripped up the player’s contract

Paul Pogba has confirmed his departure from Juventus as he prepares to make his return from a drugs ban.

Back in March of last year Pogba was given a four-year ban after the World Cup winner tested positive for doping. He’s since had that reduced on appeal but will have to find a new employer.

When Pogba’s contract at Manchester United expired in 2022 he chose to rejoin the club where he excelled in the past. With the Serie A outfit the Frenchman became a serial winner and was hoping to rediscover his previous form, but has been hampered by his ban.

The player has underlined his affection for the club but confirmed that he would be leaving the Turin-outfit when he does return to the game.

He said on social media: “There are times when things don’t go the way we want, but one thing is certain: the bond I have with you, dear fans, will remain unforgettable. You have given me so much, more than I can express in words, and I will always carry with me all the affection you have given me. You will always be in my heart. Good luck @juventus”

The Italian club released a statement that read: “Juventus Football Club and Paul Pogba announce that they have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of their contract as of 30 November, 2024. The club wishes Paul the very best for his professional future.”

Pogba has confessed he considered retiring from the game after being handed a four-year ban from the game but is now motivated by a a return to the France national team, with whom he won the World Cup, whilst he’ll also have some big names considering him.

The 31-year-old has also maintained he is the player he was before his ban. “I’m still the same player but with a different hunger,” he said. “I am more motivated. I am more hungry. I will appreciate the game more than before after it was taken away from me. I realised how important it was for me. I tasted what life is after the career.”

The Manchester outfit and Juventus are the only two major European outfits that Pogba has played for during his career. During his time at Old Trafford he showed his quality in patches and is yet to truly deliver on the potential he showed during his first stint at Juventus.
