The Netflix show “Wednesday” is about to return to our screens for a second season, with the first four episodes dropping today (August 6). If it’s anything like season 1, we’re in for more monstrous mayhem, gore and heaps of gothic sarcasm.

The series follows Wednesday from the Addams family as she attends the boarding school Nevermore Academy, where she’s attempting to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a killing spree and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago. The role of Wednesday is played by Jenna Ortega, whom fans claimed has captured Wednesday’s iconic personality perfectly. However, how much of it is actually acting?

Ahead of the release of the first season, Jenna appeared in an interview with Wired, where she was asked about her relationship with former The Fallout co-star Maddie Ziegler was still friends.

“She’s one of my greatest friends ever,” the Wednesday star said before adding her “beautiful, wonderful baby angel face” pal was “somebody that I instantly clicked with”.

“Maddie and I are the same person in different fonts,” as she continued. “She’s such a weirdo and I’m a weirdo.”

Ortega then went on to illustrate her own “weirdness” with an interesting example of how she used to pass the time. But rather than listing something typical like reading or riding her bike, she revealed her interesting in performing “autopsies on little animals when [she] was younger,” including “little lizards that I found that were dead in my backyard”.

She quickly went on to clarify this wasn’t a shared hobby with the former Dance Moms star, who’s more of a “weirdo in the sense that she breaks out into characters or movements or makes faces”.

“Her comedic timing is so under-appreciated,” she explained. “She makes me laugh. We have a good time. We’re really weird together.”

People were quick to make note of this obscure hobby, with some saying it sounded very Wednesday Addams-esque.

“Gives Wednesday Addams vibes,” one person wrote on Reddit. However, another person questioned: “Why would she say this?”

A third person said: “Not something I would ever admit to, but to be fair there is a big difference between actually killing the animal to do a little autopsy on it and just finding a dead one and doing it.”

“Maybe I’m weird but this isn’t weird to me… it sounds like something some little kids have done and still do,” someone else suggested.

However, not everyone believed she was telling the truth, as another person said: “I am choosing to believe she’s putting a fake persona to get people to watch Wednesday.”

“This is the first thing I thought! I actually think it’s more impressive when you play the role so well even though you don’t have an relatability to it,” someone else said.
