A social media content creator has shared the mind-blowing discovery that people have been eating Pringles wrong their whole lives – and there’s a very specific way to enjoy them
You might think there’s no ‘right or wrong’ way to munch on Pringles – but it appears there is a method to ensure the ‘most intense flavour experience’.
When it comes to Pringles, one thing is for sure, ‘once you pop, you can’t stop’. Pringles are among the nation’s favourite crisps, and while many of us love to snack on them, it seems we’ve been doing it wrong all our lives.
A social media content creator recently made the astonishing discovery that you can enhance the deliciousness of a Pringle even further, by ensuring you eat it in a specific manner. Most people grab a Pringle out of the can and pop it in their mouths with the ‘top’ of the crisp facing up – but apparently, that’s not right.
Social media user A-A-Ron recently discovered how to get the most out of each crunch and shared his revelation on TikTok. In a recent video on his cookinhungry account, he shared: “Did you know there’s a correct way to eat Pringles?” He went on to explain that most people eat the snack with the ‘saddle’ shape sitting lengthways along the tongue, with the edges facing down.
This is the way you’d grab them out of the tube pack. However, because most of the flavouring is on the ‘top’ of the crisp, which is the side most people have facing towards the top of their mouth when they eat, this isn’t the optimal way.
A-A-Ron dished out a game-changing tip for Pringles enthusiasts, claiming that if you “rub” a Pringle, you can tell which side is more seasoned. According to him, this side should face down on your tongue to maximise the flavour hit.
The official Pringles website backs up his claim, noting that while you can munch on them any way you fancy, there are “some people” who “claim that the best way to eat them is with the ‘top’ of the chip (the side facing the lid of the can) facing down,” because Pringles usually have more seasoning on the top than the bottom, offering a more intense taste sensation.
In the comments section, fans were gobsmacked by A-A-Ron’s revelation, with many exclaiming they were “today years old” when they learned this trick. Yet, some admitted they were “too invested” in their current snacking method to switch it up now.
The unique saddle shape of a Pringle, known scientifically as a hyperbolic paraboloid, isn’t just for looks—it ensures the crisps stack neatly and reduces the chance of breakage during transit. Interestingly, Pringles are only seasoned on one side, but the flavour transfers to the other crisps in the stack, creating the illusion that both sides are flavoured.
