SNL Comedian Pete Davidson has opened up about how his love life has been constantly scrutinised, revealing how the harassment turned his life into a ‘living hell’

Pete Davidson shared how his life became a “living hell” due to the constant criticism over his dating life.

The 31-year-old, best known for his time on Saturday Night Live, has made headlines over the years for his relationships, including with Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian. It was his romance with Ariana Grande that first saw Pete’s love life gain public attention. The pair dated in 2018 and even got engaged. However, they later called it quits in October of the same year.

He later went on to date Kim Kardashian following her split from Kanye West. The pair dated from October 2021 until August 2022 after meeting during filming for Saturday Night Live. Their romance became a very public one as the pair were constantly hitting headlines and Kim discussed their romance on her reality show, The Kardashians.

Now, Pete has spoken candidly about the impact the media’s attention on his love life and appearance had on him. He explained that, due to being viewed as “unattractive,” he was relentlessly targeted in the press for years. The constant harassment left him feeling humiliated and upset, describing the experience as a “living hell.”

“Everyone is dating everyone and it’s Hollywood,” the actor and comedian said, referencing Paul Mescal, Timothée Chalamet, and Barry Keoghan as examples of other stars in his age range experimenting with dating in showbiz.

“But because I’m ugly, they wrote about me. I was harassed for like, five years and it made my life a living hell,” the 31-year-old told Page Six. “It was pretty humiliating and upsetting, honestly,” he added.

Davidson has often been in the public eye for his personal life, but he’s now opening up about the frustration it caused. He said, “It’s embarrassing because you want people to write about your work. I was one of the youngest-ever cast members on SNL and all that got pushed to the side because of who I was dating.”

It comes after news that the SNL star and his ex Madelyn Cline called it quits last summer. After a year of dating, Pete and Madelyn, 27, decided to part ways. A source told The U.S. Sun that while the couple has split, there’s no ill will between them, as their relationship simply faded out over time. “They ended things fairly recently, and I understand it was amicable,” the insider told the news publication.

Meanwhile, Ariana Grande, 31, is currently in a relationship with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, 32. The singer and actor began dating in 2023 after meeting on set, with Ethan leaving his wife to be with Ariana.

He recently gave a rare glimpse into their relationship as he gushed over his co-star. Ethan told Us Weekly: “I’m unbelievably proud of her. She worked so hard. She and [co-star] Cynthia [Erivo] worked so unbelievably hard to not only make this movie and be the best versions of [characters] Glinda and Elphaba, but to promote it. They’re incredible. I’m unendingly proud.”

He also previously admitted he went through huge changes while dealing with his personal life becoming public. He told GQ magazine, admitting it “was really difficult” when things about his private life were being “commented on and looked at by the public.”
