Elon Musk has finally hit back at Donald Trump after the US President found time to snub the Tesla bosses government department DOGE amid his trade war. Trump shared a telling comment about Musk’s future in Washington after reports the Commander-in-chief told his cabinet the Starlink boss would soon step back.

Musk has publicly contradicted Trump and slammed the President’s bombshell wave of tariffs imposed on most of the globe. The world’s richest man called for a “zero tariff situation” between the US and Europe after an eye-watering $11billion was wiped off his net worth in the last few days.

Trump’s right hand man said: “At the end of the day, I hope it’s agreed that both Europe and the United States should move ideally, in my view, to a zero tariff situation, effectively creating a free trade zone between Europe and North America.”

Talking to Italy’s far right politician Matteo Salvini, Musk added: “If people wish to work in Europe or wish to work in North America, they should be allowed to do so in my view.” Musk also noted it “has certainly been my advice to the president”.

The Tesla boss also launched an attack on Trump’s trade adviser Peter Navarro, who is believed to be the architect behind these controversial tariffs, on Saturday. Musk fumed on X and wrote: “A PhD in Econ from Harvard is a bad thing, not a good thing. Results in the ego/brains>>1 problem.”

The billionaire also responded to another X user’s comment and wrote: “He ain’t built s**t.” Petty Musk has appeared to publicly go against his beloved Trump for the first time after the President’s policy directly affected his billionaire pockets.

Tesla has been hit hard as the company relies on parts from China, which was slammed with a huge 34% tariff. The electric car firm’s shares plummeted after the levy announcement.

Musk and Trump reportedly butted heads in Washington as the pair allegedly argued over China.

The President was said to have been enraged after finding out Musk was scheduled to receive a briefing from the Pentagon over China – where Tesla has a large presence, according to the MailOnline.

This comes after Trump made a comment about DOGE’s future without Musk, saying: “I think he’s amazing, but I also think he’s got a big company to run. And so, at some point, he’s going to be going back.”

The President also suggested the controversial DOGE could be wiped from the US government without Musk, adding: “At a certain point I think it will end.”

A senior White House official previously revealed the businessman had a tendency to bypass government channels and described his leadership as “erratic and disruptive”.

Recent reports even suggested Musk had recently had a bust up with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
