Officers are urging anyone who sees Carole Houghton or has information about her to come forward. The woman from Warrington, Cheshire, can often become confused due to Alzheimer’s

Police have issued an urgent appeal after a woman who has Alzheimer’s went missing.

Carole Houghton, 72, was last seen leaving an address on Pendle Gardens in Culcheth between 12.10 and 12.30pm today. The woman, from Warrington, Cheshire, can often become confused due to the progressive brain disease.

Officers said they are “increasingly concerned for her welfare” and are urging anyone who sees her or has any information regarding here whereabouts to come forward. Carole is described as white, 5’ 1” tall, of a slim build, and has short grey hair. Carole also wears glasses and was last seen wearing a grey coloured coat, Cheshire Police said.

The force said several officers are conducting searches for Ms Houghton, Manchester Evening News reported. It is thought she is currently on foot, although does have access to a bus pass so may have caught public transport, the police force said.

Inspector Hannan said: “There are several officers out searching for Carole and we are increasingly concerned for her welfare. Carole lives in the Culcheth area and is believed to be on foot; however, she does have access to a bus pass and so may be travelling via bus.

“Anyone who thinks that they may have seen her or has any information in relation to her whereabouts is urged to get in touch. I would also ask residents living in the area to check any sheds or outbuildings in case Carole has taken shelter due to the poor weather conditions.”

Anyone with information or footage that may help officers find Carole is asked to call Cheshire Constabulary immediately on 101, quoting IML 192420. Information can also be passed on online via the Cheshire Police website.
