Met Police has confirmed it has opened a murder investigation as officers frantically look for the suspect who was last seen sprinting from the scene of the attack that saw a 33-year-old man stabbed to death

A police manhunt is underway after a man was stabbed to death in broad daylight in the capital this weekend.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Lea Bridge Road, Waltham Forest in east London just before 3pm on Saturday, July 6. Both London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also rushed to the scene alongside police.

The force confirmed a 33-year-old man died at the scene and a knife was also found close to the scene, and no arrests have yet been made. Officers have now launched a full blown murder investigation as the force urgently tries to find the person responsible for the brutal attack.

Detective chief inspector Linda Bradley of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “My team is working around the clock to establish exactly what happened and what led to a man tragically losing his life. While we have spoken with a number of witnesses, we need to hear from anyone who saw the suspect running away.

“Where did he go? If you were driving in the area and have a dash cam, please review the footage in case you captured something that can help us. In addition, we strongly believe that people in the area may have information which could assist the investigation and we implore you to make contact with us and tell us what you know.”

Local MP, Stella Creasy, took to X to share her condolences and appeal for information. She wrote: “Confirmed that sadly a young man has lost his life in an attack. I urge everyone on this thread to refrain from speculating as a way of respecting his family who are deeply grieving their loss.

“If you have any information on the reason for this heinous attack please come forward – we can only stop the cycle of violence this represents together by standing against those who perpetuate it.
