Michelle Waddington visited the Pontins Southport holiday camp for three nights with her partner, Ian, and his children, but the summer getaway sooner turned into a nightmare
One woman has claimed her family’s holiday to Pontin’s was ruined by people “smoking drugs” at the holiday park.
Michelle Waddington from Staffordshire also alleged that a security guard “refused to do anything”, and when she asked him what his job actually was, she claims he said “a better job than yours because I don’t have holidays at Pontins”.
In 2021, while some coronavirus restrictions were still in place, she, along with her partner Ian and his children, stayed at the holiday camp for three nights from Friday, June 11, to Monday, June, 14.
She said: “Drugs were freely being smoked everywhere you turned, kids were running wild until the early hours. Parents were p****d-up, no masks were being worn, bottles of spirits were being brought into the park and drank in the entertainment area on clear show.

“The door guard didn’t have a badge and refused to deal with the weed. He said it wasn’t his job. So I asked ‘what is your job then?’ to which he replied ‘clearly a better job than you because I don’t have my holidays in Pontins,'” she added.
“It was supposed to be a break away after both me and my partner both working through the lockdown period and not having much family time.”
Michelle, who journeyed to the resort from Staffordshire, claimed: “There were big groups of teenagers walking around with alcohol, which became quite intimidating for my step-children and they refused to leave my side.
“I put a complaint in at reception before we left but I haven’t heard anything back yet,” she told Liverpool Echo.
Michelle insists that action needs to be taken, as Southport is a “lovely place” that is being “let down by Pontins”.
At the time, The Mirror contacted Pontins owner Britannia for comment.
Just days before the incident, a group of holidaymakers were ‘removed’ from Pontins in Southport after an ugly argument erupted.
Police were called to the altercation in which one member of the unruly group threatened to launch someone off a balcony.
One woman who did not want to be named said: “A lot of people’s holidays were very nearly ruined by the disgusting behaviour of a few.”
Another guest praised Pontins staff for how they handled the difficult situation.
