One of the UK’s favourite seaside towns has seven miles of stunning white-sandy beaches so beautiful they have been named as some of the best in Europe and number one in Britain

The bay at a UK resort has its own micro-climate which means the waters on the incredible coastline enjoy some of the warmest temperatures in the country.

Anyone after a day out or longer break at a beautiful beach resort needn’t look any further afield than our own shores here in the UK. While there are plenty of seaside towns up and down the country offering the traditional experience with fish and chips, arcades and ice creams, not many are as award winning as one on the south coast.

Bournemouth is the largest town in the county of Dorset and is a hot spot for visitors at home and from further afield. One of its main attractions are the seven miles of glorious sandy beaches, which have won numerous awards.

It came a very respectable 20th in the 2024 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards for Beaches in Europe and was Tripadvisor’s best UK beach of 2024. There are a number of Blue Flag sections such as the beaches at Alum Chine, Durley Chine, Fisherman’s Walk, Manor Steps, and Southbourne, all heralded for their safety and world-class water quality.

The bay at Bournemouth sits under a majestic cliff line with incredible views of the Isle of Wight and the Purbecks. It has its own micro-climate which means the waters on the incredible coastline enjoy some of the warmest temperatures in the country as well as being clean and perfect for families. The Kidzone scheme is free to all visitors and residents during the busy summer months and aims to reunite lost or vulnerable children with their parents.

There’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained too, from building castles on the soft white sand to the amusements and sweet treats on the pier. RockReef Indoor Activity Attraction is located at the end of the pier and offers all-weather adventure fun such as indoor climbing walls, a vertical slide drop and a highline rope obstacle course.

The Splashdown water park has 13 exhilarating rides to choose from while Paulton’s Park has over 70 exciting rides and attractions. It is set within 140 acres of pretty parkland on the edge of the New Forest National Park and is home to the UK’s only Peppa Pig World.

The Oceanarium allows visitors to dive beneath the waves and discover the creatures that live in or by the ocean such as sharks, a loggerhead turtle and a colony of penguins. For those that prefer to be in the water, local surf schools offer a variety of activities for adults and children.
