Two teenagers have tragically died after they were found on a railway line near Stockton

Two teenagers were tragically killed on a railway line – prompting services to be shut off as emergency services scrambled to the scene.

Police raced to the scene in Poynton, near Stockton, shortly before 10.30pm on Thursday.

Officials closed railway lines so that medics could reach the teenagers. Several services were affected by the closure including Avanti West Coast, Cross Country and Northern services.

Services didn’t resume until around 6am this morning.

The Mirror has contacted the British Transport Police for comment.
