If you’re a fan of the UK sweetheart’s laid back, preppy style, you won’t want to miss out on this viral stripy top dupe that has influencers racing to Primark

Multi-millionaire fashion brand owner and style mogul Molly Mae Hague has had fans running to Primark this week. The ex-Love Islander sported a striped burgundy rugby top while promoting her new Amazon Prime documentary, Behind It All.

And her on-trend outfit sent fans and fashion conscious women into a frenzy when they found out Primark had released an almost exact dupe for the bargain price of £12. The ultra-stylish budget rugby shirt fast became a viral hit on social media. With its cosy, oversized fit and crisp white collar, the long-sleeved top is suitable for both casual and smart occasions. Primark has a version in both burgundy-and-blue, which is an exact copy of Molly Mae’s viral jumper, as well as a burgundy-and-pink, for those looking to switch things up.

Primark described the top on its website: “Don’t worry, you don’t need to know the rules of polo to wear this striped long sleeve polo top (but being versed in fashion rules may help). The classic collar adds a preppy twist, while the relaxed fit keeps things laid-back and effortless. The contrasting white collar and button placket are signature to the classic polo top (which we love). Play with textures and pair your polo top with jeans or pleated skirts.”

One reviewer, Abby Cullip, came online to sing the top’s praises. Filming in her car, she showed off her new buy, saying, “How stun. How stun to the hun to the bun.” The video was captioned “The Molly Mae effect”, and was posted to her TikTok account @abbybellaculip, which has since received over 28K views. She continued: “[The top] is actually from Primark and it was £12. It’s giving Molly Mae on a budget.” However, she advised shoppers to size up if they’re unsure of how the top will fit. She said, “I think [my top] is a medium, so it does come up quite small.”

When asked by a commenter how she styles the top, Abby replied: “I’ve just got some light denim jeans with them, and have also wore them with just plain black leggings” Other users said that they were now itching to buy the top. “I was so heavily influenced by these tops went running,” one wrote. Another said, “Ok on my way to Primark tomorrow u look GORGE in it”

TikTok has helped drum up the top’s popularity. One account, @ellabxx_ posted a video showed off the new top to her 22.2K followers with the caption, “Obsessed with this striped rugby top” Another lifestyle influencer, @life_withnatalie_x, posted a video searching for the top in Primark, which has received over 83.9K views. She captioned it, “I saw Molly Mae wearing a stripe rugby top so…”
