Primark’s £25 Underseat Suitcase seriously impressed a shopper who put the “genius” luggage design to the test
Primark is selling a “genius” suitcase that’s ideal for Ryanair flights and has removable wheels for £25. The 8-Wheel Hard Shell Underseat Suitcase is “designed to fit under most airline seats,” according to Primark.
It also boasts zip-up compartments, a retractable telescopic handle, and removable wheels, which the product description describes as “a clever touch for storage or travel flexibility.”
Perhaps most importantly, it stood up to the test when a travel lover tried the viral suitcase. A popular travel expert named Chelsea, who posts on social media as @cheapholidayexp, revealed the suitcase holds everything you’d need for a short trip.
Chelsea was clearly impressed by Primark’s suitcase, calling it “genius.” In a video filmed in-store, Chelsea said: “I have been searching for a product like this for years and now they have it in Primark for £25.” She added: “It’s Ryanair size but with removable wheels.”
The expert proceeded to purchase the bag and take it home for testing. In the follow-up video, Chelsea added clothing, underwear, a pair of shoes, a small toiletries bag, a small electronics bag, and a tripod to her suitcase before closing it with ease. Zipping up the case, Chelsea said: “That wasn’t even a struggle.”
“I would say this is enough clothes and bits for a three-day stay,” she explained. However, Chelsea did warn that “the handle inside does take up quite a lot of space.”
While Chelsea hasn’t delivered her final verdict yet as she is waiting to test the suitcase on a trip, you could say she’s off to a promising start. She was able to remove the wheels easily and the suitcase measured up when Chelsea took out her tape measure. As seen in her video, the suitcase should be suitable for Ryanair passengers flying with a free small bag, which must measure 40 x 20 x 25 cm.
Not everyone was so impressed, though. On the one hand, a viewer commented: “Bought this today. I’m hoping to fit 5 days’ worth. Pleased I picked it up,” and another said: “I will be checking this one out for my next work trip.” However, someone else replied: “I think I have handbags bigger,” and a commenter added: “It’s tiny.”
