The Primark bag is very similar in design to the much more expensive version – for a fraction of the cost
Primark is stocking a new bag that bears a striking resemblance to a pricier alternative. Known for its affordable fashion and homeware, the high street giant may have just introduced a new crowd-pleaser.
The retailer’s Faux Leather Bowler Bag looks similar to a style by brand Whistles, but at a fraction of the cost. Shoppers can snag the Primark version for £12, while the high end version is currently priced at £149 online.
The bags are very similar, with a mini design, bowler bag style, top handles and a longer, detachable strap. They also both feature gold-tone hardware.
However, there a differences too. The Primark bag is faux leather, while Whistles’ version is made with cow leather. The tabs attaching the handles are also different shapes on each bag.
The Primark bag is described as “a leather-look bowler bag with a crossbody strap and a top zip fastening” It is available in black or red.
The Whistles description reads: “A classic cross body piece, this bag has smart style and effortless practicality with its sleek design by Whistles. Built from leather that only gets better with age, this bowling crossbody features an adjustable strap and fastens with a simple, secure zip.”
The Primark bag retails for £12, while the Whistles Lois Leather Bowling Crossbody Bag come in at £149. This means shoppers could save around £137 by opting for the bargain version.
