Prince Andrew is alleged to have told convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein he could have met his accuser Virginia Giuffre.

The royal previously claimed during his ruinous 2019 Newsnight interview with interviewer Emily Maitlis that he had never met Giuffre, who claimed to have been trafficked by Epstein and that she had sex with Prince Andrew when she was 17. The royal has consistently denied any wrongdoing. During the interview Andrew claimed a photograph of himself, Giuffre and Ghislaine Maxwell could have been forged.

A 2011 message sent to Epstein on February 25, 2011, appeared to indicate he was unsure about whether he had in fact met her. In the email update about a Mail on Sunday’s upcoming interview with Giuffre, he is reported to have said: “Categoric denial of Sexual Relations. Possible that I met her in a group with others and possible there is a photograph.”

Prince Andrew then hit out at the outlet, claiming it was “just gratuitously trying it on… ably abetted by Miss Roberts [Giuffre] who they will have contacted as her identity will have been known from court records, I assume.”

He continued: “Not bothered any further about it but will keep watch.” Prince Andrew has consistently and strongly denied any claims of wrongdoing.

The revelation is one of many that have emerged amid Prince Andrew’s decision to no longer use his titles, including the Duke of York. Prince Andrew made the decision after it emerged he had emailed Epstein after he claimed to have cut off ties with the paedophile who was convicted of child sex offences in 2008.

He is also alleged to have asked his Met Police bodyguard to find out damaging information on his accuser Giuffre. Andrew is claimed to have emailed Mr Perkins just hours before the publication published the notorious photograph of him and Giuffre.

Giuffre’s upcoming book Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice is due to be released on Tuesday and will feature many claims about her alleged abuse. The book was published posthumously following her death by suicide earlier this year.
