Virginia Giuffre shared a photo of herself from her hospital bed, covered in bruises she said were suffered in a road smash and made a grim statement in the wake of the crash
Prince Andrew’s teenage sex abuse accuser has told how she has been given just days to live after being hit by a school bus.
Virginia Giuffre has said she is suffering from kidney failure in the aftermath of the crash and was due to moved to a specialist hospital for treatment. In her Instagram post she said: “I’m ready to go”. The 41-year-old, who has been at the centre of one of the most high-profile sexual abuse scandals in modern history, posted a photograph from her hospital bed on Sunday night.
It showed her with extensive bruising. Giuffre, who lives in Australia, claims the injuries were sustained in a high-speed crash with a school bus. In her post, the mother-of-three said she was “begging” to see her children “one last time” before she dies.
“They’ve given me four days to live, transferring me to a specialist hospital in urology,” she wrote. “This year has been the worst start to a new year, but I won’t bore anyone with the details. But I think it’s important to note that when a school bus driver comes at you driving 110kmh as we were slowing down for a turn, that no matter what your car is made of, it might as well be a tin can.”
She added: “I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time,” she wrote. “But you know what they say about wishes. S*** in one hand and wish in the other and I guarantee it’s still going to be s*** at the end of the day.”
She concluded her post, using her maiden name, Roberts, by saying goodbye and thanking her followers for being a “great part” of her life.
Details of the crash, including where and when it occurred, remain unknown. Even Giuffre’s father, Sky Roberts, appeared to be in the dark, responding to her Instagram post with a message of love and support. “Virginia, my daughter, I love you and praying you get the correct treatment to live a long and healthy life,” he wrote. “If there is anything in the world I can do to help you, please let me know. My spirit is with you now and holding your hand.”
Ms Giuffre’s last known address was a £1 million beachfront property in Ocean Reef, North Perth, where she lived with her estranged husband, Robert Giuffre, and their three teenage children. The couple, who had been married for 22 years, are now reportedly estranged.
Giuffre alleged that billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein trafficked her for sex at the age of 16 after she was recruited by his associate Ghislaine Maxwell while working as a locker room attendant at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
She claims she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew on at least three occasions when she was 17, including while in London. Prince Andrew has always strongly denied the allegations.
However, in 2022, he reached an out-of-court settlement in New York with Ms Giuffre, reportedly worth £12 million, after she sued for sexual abuse. The agreement did not admit liability, but the Duke of York agreed to pay an unspecified sum to Giuffre and her victims’ rights charity.
The allegations and his disastrous 2019 Newsnight interview led to his withdrawal from public life as a senior royal. The scandal resulted in Andrew losing his military titles, royal patronages, and the use of his His Royal Highness (HRH) title.
Giuffre found herself at the heart of a global scandal when she launched legal action against Epstein in 2015. She eventually reached an undisclosed settlement with Maxwell in a defamation case in 2017.
Epstein died in prison in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
