Prince Harry went for dinner at Guy Monson’s house last night after attending an Invictus Games event in London after it emerged his father King Charles was too busy to see him.
Prince Harry headed out for dinner with millionaire Guy Monson last night after he was left out in the cold by the Royal Family.
The Duke of Sussex, who co-founded the Invictus Games in 2014, visited Armoury House shortly after arriving in London for an Invictus Games discussion titled Realising a Global Community. The event was hosted by Louise Minchin.
During his chat onstage, Louise asked Harry to look back and reflect on a magic moment that made him smile. “It probably hasn’t changed, it has to be the beginning, 2014, in the Copper Box. I was at the DJ sets and trying to choose some of the music, put the lights on and get people on their feet,” he recalled. Harry then said: “And…is Guy in the house? Guy Monson? Are you here? No? Well we’re having dinner at his place later so he’ll definitely be there.”

But who is Guy Monson? Well, Guy is a city financier and a trustee of the Invictus Games Foundation. Mr Monson was on the organising committee for the launch in 2014, and in 2018, he was appointed treasurer to William and Kate and Harry and Meghan, before the Sussexes stepped down as senior working royals two years later in 2020.
Mr Monson is a chief investment officer at Sarasin and Partners and he stood alongside Prince Harry and Prince William when they unveiled a statue of their mother Princess Diana in 2021 at Kensington Palace.
According to his profile on the Civil Society, Mr Monson is 61. The page also states that in 1996 he “pioneered the use of thematic investment in the management of global equity portfolios, resulting in the successful launch of the EquiSar family of funds”.
Mr Monson has been with his partner Olivia Monson since 1995, and he writes regularly in the international financial press and has made television appearances on CNBC, Bloomberg and other financial channels.
Harry heading out for dinner with his pal comes after the Duke was seemingly left out in the cold by his family. After weeks of speculation that Harry could meet with his father, the King, a spokesperson for the Duke said yesterday afternoon: “It, unfortunately, will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme. The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
