Footage on Instagram reveals that Kate Middleton has an adorable nickname for her only daughter, Princess Charlotte, but it’s not the only term of endearment used in the family

A mum has revealed the cute name the Princess of Wales uses as a term of endearment for her daughter Charlotte.

While on a walkabout in Northern Ireland, Instagram influencer Laura-Ann met Kate with her two-year-old son George, in whom the royal mum took an instant interest. During their conversation Kate told George: “Hello, what’s your name? Hi George, what a cool name you’ve got, and you look very smart in your bowtie. It’s very nice to meet you.”

Laura-Ann 30, a part-time estate agent from Belfast, had gone to Windsor Park to meet Kate and Prince William. She documented their meeting on her Instagram page and revealed that while talking to her older son, the Duchess said to her: “So then she asked how old Bertie is, and I said he is four and she said, ‘Oh, he’s the same age as Lottie’. She calls her Lottie!”

However, that’s not the only nickname Charlotte’s doting parents have for her. While she was also nicknamed “Warrior Princess” at Willocks Nursery near her then-home in Kensington Palace, which she attended for 18 months, due to her “feisty” personality, according to Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent – while on a shopping trip to The Range back in 2018, a fellow shopper told the Daily Mail that they had overheard Kate telling Charlotte to “get up poppet”.

And, of course, trust a dad to have a very different type of name for his daughter. Prince William’s term of endearment has a French feel to it, with him calling Charlotte “mignonette”, which translates as “cute” and “delicate”. William was heard to refer to her with this nickname during the family’s visit to the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019. And according to My London, this is also a name he uses for her at home too.

“Poppet” seems to be a common term of endearment in the family, as Prince William has been heard calling Kate “poppet” on at least one occasion. However, it seems no matter how far up the Royal Family ladder you are, having multiple names and titles is par for the course. The Prince and Princess of Wales also have their secret monikers for their other kids. While at one school – Thomas’s School in Battersea – Prince George was simply called George, just like any other child.

But William and Kate apparently abbreviated Prince George to PG and he is then called “Tips”, in a nod to the British family-favourite tea brand. And then there’s the couple’s youngest, Prince Louis, who set out his own path to the hearts of adoring royal fans after he came over as quite cheeky during the Jubilee weekend. There’s no sure way yet to discern what nickname Kate and William use for their ‘baby’, but many fans have started referring to him as “Boss Baby”, a reference to the Hollywood character.
