Kylian Mbappe is expected to say goodbye to Paris Saint-Germain after seven years at the club, with Real Madrid adding the French international forward to their ranks

Paris Saint-Germain have not included Kylian Mbappe in a social media post announcing their new kit, in a further hint towards the forward’s summer exit.

Mbappe, who joined PSG in 2017 and is their all-time record scorer, is due to move on this summer after deciding against extending his contract. Real Madrid will have the French international’s services next term, but both clubs have yet to officially confirm the move.

There had been suggestions announcements were being delayed until it was certain the two sides could no longer face one another in the Champions League. That moment came this week, with PSG losing their semi-final against Borussia Dortmund, though Real Madrid will be in the final thanks to a late comeback against Bayern Munich 24 hours later.

Mbappe could say goodbye to fans of his current club on Sunday, when Toulouse come to the Parc des Princes for a Ligue 1 encounter. However, the club are already looking to the future.

A number of PSG players are featured in a social post marking the new kit, including Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes and Lucas Hernandez. Mbappe is nowhere to be seen, though.

Back in March, manager Luis Enrique laid bare the situation around Mbappe. “Kylian, I’m not just discovering him today,” he said. “You already know my opinion on him:

“He’s the best player in the world. He’ll score 50 goals and provide 25 assists in any team with any coach and unfortunately he won’t be here in the near future so we will have to test other teammates of his.”

Mbappe stopped short of confirming his exit in the aftermath of the defeat at home to Dortmund. When asked if he’d played his final Champions League game in PSG colours, he said: “This season, that’s sure, it would have to be.

“Of course we are disappointed, we wanted to qualify for the final,” the 25-year-old added. “In the Champions League you have to be effective in two areas, and on this point they were better than us so there you go. We are disappointed for the supporters, for those close to us, but that’s how it is.

“It’s a long process, but we showed through this season that we were capable of going far. I think the club is not far away. We had the ingredients to win, but as I said, in a Champions League match, it is necessary to be efficient in the box. We were not efficient in the two games.”
