Aurelien Tchouameni has put in heroic displays for Real Madrid while playing out of position at centre-back, but the club are reportedly open to selling the 24-year-old in the summer after being linked with Liverpool

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to sell France star Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.

Tchouameni has been playing out of position at centre-back under Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu amid the club’s injury woes, which have seen both Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal ruled out until next season, while David Alaba is still to fully return from his long-term issues.

But despite the Frenchman’s displays while not playing in his best role, the club are reportedly open to selling the 24-year-old in the summer, if they receive a suitable offer, according to Spanish outlet Relevo. It adds that the La Liga giants won’t hesitate to sanction an exit if an opportunity opens up, even though Ancelotti remains a huge fan of the player.

Tchouameni cost Madrid around £70million when he arrived at Madrid from AS Monaco in 2022 and he’s already played 112 times for the team, with Ancelotti seeing him as “integral” to his side.

He’s impressed enough at centre-back but is said to be “unhappy” that he has been pinpointed as the scapegoat for Madrid’s recent poor form. Liverpool have been looking for an additional midfielder to add to their options and might be tempted with a move for the player in the summer, given that the club were said to have approached the player’s agent to gauge interest in a move last year.

It’s believed the Reds were looking to do a deal for Tchouameni in 2022 before he ended up opting for a move to Madrid – with chief Michael Edwards a keen admirer of the France international.

The Reds attempted to sign Martin Zubimendi to no avail last year, with the Spaniard now looking likely to join Arsenal, and Slot may feel he still needs more cover in midfield with Wataro Endo being linked with an exit amid his lack of playing time.
