Real Madrid have suffered a fresh blow after it was confirmed that Eduardo Camavinga will be out of action after he picked up a muscle injury as his side were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool

Real Madrid have suffered another blow after their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League, with Eduardo Camavinga set for a spell on the sidelines.

Madrid currently sit 24th in the revamped Champions League league phase after suffering their third defeat of tournament so far against the Reds. Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo earned Liverpool a huge win, while Madrid have also been beaten by AC Milan and Lille in Europe.

To make matters worse, the team coach was involved in a crash on the motorway after the game. No players or staff were onboard when the accident happened, with footage on social media appearing to show the coach had been struck by a lorry.

And Madrid have now suffered an injury blow after they revealed that Camavinga had picked up a muscle problem in his left leg during the loss to Liverpool. Although the club have not confirmed how long the midfielder will be out of action for, ESPN are reporting he will be absent for around three weeks.

Camavinga’s injury is the latest major fitness blow for Madrid, who were without Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, David Alaba, Aurelien Tchouameni, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr for their trip to Anfield on Wednesday.

“To be totally honest, it’s a fair result,” Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted after the game. “Liverpool deserved to win. They have a real good dynamic at the moment and are in great form. They were really switched on, connected, playing with high intensity.

“We did okay in the first half, we held them and set up quite well and defended well as a unit. In transitions we were okay. But then we lost the ball and once we gained the ball we made the wrong decision going forward.

“We fought right up until the point of the penalty. If we could have evened it up, we had competed well up to that point. But we have to keep going. This is the road we are on at the moment, we have to fight for everything.

“There are things we have to improve. And we will improve, nothing more really. In the second half we didn’t make the right decisions. But Liverpool were great in the second half.”
