The bizarre video, which shows Adam Schiff with a massively elongated neck, follows brutal comments Donald Trump made about the US Senator earlier this year

Donald Trump has caused confusion after he posted a bizarre new video on X depicting one of his fiercest critics with an elongated neck.

The video, posted on the social media platform this afternoon, captures Adam Schiff, a Democratic Senator from California, speaking in a recent appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press. In the original clip, he criticises the US President, saying that “anyone who stands up to the President, anyone who criticises the President” has the “full force of the Federal Government brought down on them”.

But the Trump version elongates his neck in a bid to poke fun, and has since been viewed millions of times on the social media platform, despite the lack of an explanation.

The video, which has racked up more than 3.5 million views since it was posted a few hours ago, appears to be an odd visual reference to a comment Mr Trump made at the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner in April.

He told attendees that Mr Schiff, whom he calls “Schifty Schiff”, had “the smallest neck I’ve ever seen” in a barrage of personal insults, adding he had a “big fat face”. He said: “Adam Schifty Schiff. Can you believe this guy? He’s got the smallest neck I’ve ever seen. And the biggest head.

“We call him watermelon head. How can that big fat face stand on a neck that looked like this finger? … How we can allow people like that to run in office is a shame.”

Mr Schiff, who rose to prominence following Mr Trump’s first win in 2016 for accusing the President of colluding with Russia to win, responded to the unusual nicknames saying he thought the President “was better at it than that”.

He said during an interview on the David Pakman Show podcast: “He went from calling me a pencil neck to a watermelon head, and let me just say a watermelon head on a pencil neck is a pretty tough balancing act.” He added: “My predominant thought on the various nicknames was that I thought he was better at it than that.

“The whole cardinal rule of nicknames is that you pick one and you stick to it. And he’s had about eight of them for me over the years.” The video seemingly referring to the President’s appearance is one of many bizarre clips posted on his social media profiles over the last year.

In February, just over six weeks after taking office, the Commander-in-Chief posted a widely panned AI video showing Gaza as a desert paradise comparable to Dubai.

The video, as well as golden statues depicting Mr Trump and a glittering resort, includes depictions of Mr Trump and close ally Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sunbathing in the Gaza Strip. The video also includes scenes of destruction on the strip transitioning into buildings topped with “TRUMP GAZA”.
