Doorbell camera captures delivery driver lobbing parcel at cat

A mum has been left outraged after a Ring doorbell captured the shocking moment an Amazon delivery driver launched a parcel at her terrified cat.

Jodie Dobson watched the horrifying footage after it was captured on her Ring doorbell camera. The 23-second clip shows the man at the front door but no-one was in. He then hurls the package – which was a tin of Uno cards – towards their wheelie bin.

But he frightens Jodie’s nine-year-old puss called Grayson who was seen running away. The courier then goes to pick up the parcel again. Amazon is now investigating what happened after the outraged mum made a formal complaint.

Jodie, 30, fumed: “He thought it was a good idea to throw my parcel at the cat. Obviously he didn’t know he was caught on camera. I was shocked when I saw it.

“We complained to Amazon and they were not very helpful. They didn’t seem to want to take it seriously. They said they’d get back to us but never did. I was on hold for 20 mins and then they put the phone down.” She added: “They then told us they’d make sure that their drivers didn’t throw parcels again.”

Married, mum-of-three Jodie said that Grayson, nine, is very jumpy anyway. She added: “Grayson is fine, he is a very jumpy and shy cat. He usually avoids people where he can. ”

It happened outside the front of their house in Swain House Road, Bradford, West Yorkshire on 16 August at 3:45pm. An Amazon spokesperson said: “We have very high standards for our delivery service providers. And expect every package to be handled with care.We are looking into this.”

The shocking footage comes just months after a baffled mum watched an Amazon delivery driver through her doorbell footage as they dropped off a package and sprinted away from her home.

Mum Lynn Staffieri was left confused when she witnessed an Amazon delivery driver’s strange actions after she had received a notification through her Nest doorbell while she was out that somebody had been to the door. On it she saw the driver running away from her house. The device also sends her footage for home-monitoring and security.

The video she was sent had no audio, but when she returned home she reviewed the full clip to work out why the driver had fled so quickly after the ‘weird’ incident in Delaware, US. And she quickly learned her young son had been behind it, having sneaked a very unique set of delivery instructions onto the Amazon order.

Before the order went out for delivery, under a box titled ‘Do we need any additional instructions to find this address?’, her son had written: “No but knock on the door 3 times and scream abra cadabra as loud as you can and run super fast away.” Incredibly, the clip shows the woman place the package on the porch before banging on the door and screaming the magical phrase before jumping down the steps and sprinting back to her van – exactly as instructed.
