If you missed out on the ASOS X Adidas cow print Sambas when they launched, River Island is on hand to get the look for less with its brand new trainers – and they’re under £40

By now you’ll have no doubt heard all about the sell out sensation that is the ASOS X Adidas cow print trainers. Both the cow print Adidas Samba, £100, and the SL 72 OG, £90, sold out within minutes of launching on the ASOS website, but if you were unlucky enough to miss out don’t despair, because River Island just dropped its own version – and they’re 60% cheaper.

The Brown Cow Print Lace Up Trainers retail for a much more affordable £38, and have a similar look to the sought after Adidas Sambas. Plus, they’re still available in all sizes from a 3 to an 8, so you don’t need to worry about a chaotic scramble to snap up your size before it goes out of stock.

River Island’s Brown Cow Print Lace Up Trainers have all the same design features that made the ASOS X Adidas Sambas a stand out. Despite their affordable price tag, they’re made from real cow leather with a textured hair-on finish, and a brown and white cow print pattern.

The trainers also feature a rounded toe, with lace up fastenings and a brown gum sole. The subtle white stripe details down the sides and the heel tabs at the back also give them a similar look.

The main difference between the two pairs is the brown and white print on the River Island Cow Print Lace Up Trainers, rather than the black and white colourway that the Adidas trainers have. With brown still trending as the top colour for spring they’re actually even more on-trend, with the brown hue adding a slightly more neutral look that’s easy to style.

You can effortlessly pair them with anything from blue and ecru denim to pleated mini skirts and floaty midi dresses, so you know they’ll be working hard in your wardrobe. The Brown Cow Print Lace Up Trainers have only just landed on the River Island website so you can still get your hands on all sizes; however we suspect it won’t be long before they also become a sell out sensation.

These aren’t the only cow print trainers on the market right now, however, as you can pick up the Adidas Originals Taekwondo Mei Women’s for £100. They have a laceless design inspired by Adidas’ early 2000s martial arts-inspired lineage, and look just as (if not more) effortlessly cool than both the Samba and the SL 72 OG.

For a chunkier look, the Bimba Y Lola Cow print fur 13 57 Cupsole Sneakers are currently on sale, down to £119 from £170. They also have a pony hair cow print leather upper, with a metallic silver heel tab and baby blue leather stripe details down the side.
