Roses are known to be spring flowers, and they’re also one of the best garden blooms because of their vibrant colours. By using the right fertiliser, gardeners can ensure that their garden spaces will be filled with their beauty, and it only takes two things.

Springtime is the best time to take care of our garden spaces, especially when it comes to the maintenance of plants and flowers. As temperatures begin to rise, plants are just starting to grow back again, and therefore, they need all the nutrients they can get to produce their beautiful blooms. Roses should be fertilised during their active growing season, which begins from early spring to late summer.

According to Tiny Garden Habit, by applying either liquid seaweed or compost tea, rose plants will get the extra boost that they need to grow healthy.

Because roses require a lot of nutrients to survive and keep their vibrant colours, fertilising them appropriately will ensure they have enough energy to bloom beautifully.

How to make an organic fertiliser for roses

When using liquid seaweed, because of its richness in magnesium, iron and potassium, encourages the plant to grow stronger. The ingredients are simple and gardeners will only require seaweed.

To make seaweed fertiliser for roses, gardeners will have to soak dried or fresh seaweed in water for a couple of weeks. Once ready, strain and dilute the tea with water before applying it to the rose plants. The natural and organic fertiliser can be applied every two to three weeks.

It’s important for gardeners to deep-water the rose plants one to two times a week. However, it’s best to avoid overwatering as it might increase the chances of disease and the roses potentially dying. Also, roses love the warmth and the rays of sunshine.

Alternatively, gardeners can use compost tea by mixing it with water, letting it steep, and then applying it to the roses once ready. As explained by Gardening Know How, for best results, it’s recommended to use non-chlorinated water (rainwater). Gardeners can then dilute the tea before applying it to the roses.

By following this advice and simple instructions, gardeners can rest assured that their garden spaces will have the most beautiful rose blooms.

The best thing about it is that it doesn’t cost a lot of money compared to other alternatives involving unnecessary chemicals that will only damage them, but just some extra care and attention.
