After a few month of dating Maya Jama, it appears Ruben Dias has dropped the ‘L bomb’ as her showed off his summer so far with a collection of snaps on social media
Smitten Ruben Dias has dropped a huge hint that it’s love already between him and Maya Jama.
The Love Island host, 30, made things official with the Manchester City star, 28, during a sun-soaked trip to the Amalfi Coast just days before her return to ITV2 for the new series of the dating show on June 9. Things seem to be moving a quite a pace if the centre-back’s remarks are anything to go by.
The footballer took to social media to show off his summer so far. With snaps of holidays, animals, photo shoots and of course his girlfriend, the telling description told fans all they need to know. “Sun, love, crocodiles, some fits and one advice,” he captioned the fun-filled collection.
Maya was quick to notice, a responded with a series of love heart and fire emoji. Her fans noted the response, and one told the television presenter: “you two! Love to see my girl so happy!” It’s a sure sign that things are ramping up between the couple after a number of lavish trips together.
Maya and Ruben are believed to have first met at the European Music Awards (EMAs) in Manchester in November 2024. After the event, they followed each other on Instagram. By the end of the year, the pair were reportedly spotted ringing in New Year ’s Eve together.
Things only escalated from there, as Maya was seen attending one of Ruben’s football matches in Portugal in March 2025. A month later, the pair were photographed kissing and cuddling at KSI’s Baller League football event at London’s Copper Box Arena – and it was only just getting started.
According to reports, the relationship has become more serious in recent weeks. Maya is said to have introduced Ruben to her mum, Bernadette, and has been making an effort to learn her partner’s native language by taking Portuguese lessons. Dias joined Manchester City in 2020 for a reported £57 million, and is one of the most respected defenders in the world.
Before dating Maya he was in a relationship with Portuguese singer April Ivy, and has also previously been linked to former Love Island contestant Arabella Chi. Maya’s love life has been in the spotlight ever since she dated Stormzy. The couple split up in 2019, which the rapper later called his “biggest regret”, and they reunited in 2023 to give things another try. However, they broke up again for good last summer, citing differences in what they wanted from their lives and for the future.
In an interview with the Evening Standard last November, which is around the time she met Ruben, Maya opened up about what she is currently looking for from a relationship. She shared: “‘I am so happy right now but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so obviously I’m feeling fussy.
“I’ve created such a nice life for myself alone and I don’t want anyone who’s not going to add to that. I’m in this lovely bubble and I don’t want you unless you make me happy. If you’re not, I kind of don’t need you.” Maya had quite the weekend, jetting to America after seeing Iga Swiatek make history with her 6-0, 6-0 demolition of Amanda Anisimova in 57 minutes at Wimbledon.
Ruben has a few more weeks before he is due to return to pre-season, with City having a very different summer having participated in the FIFA Club World Cup. They can unwind with the squad not reporting for duty until the end of July as they gear up for the Premier League season.
