Ruth Langsford has been candid about the challenges of adjusting to life post-divorce after she split from Eamonn Holmes in May last year after 14 years of marriage
Ruth Langsford is marking her first birthday since her split from estranged husband Eamonn Holmes. The couple, who had been together since 1996 and married in 2010, announced their split after 14 years of marriage in May last year, a development that surprised many of their fans and colleagues.
In the months following the separation, Ruth has been candid about the challenges of adjusting to life post-divorce. She acknowledged the inherent difficulties of such transitions but emphasized the importance of resilience and self-care. In an interview with Women & Home magazine, she reflected on her journey, stating, “You can let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It’s a choice.”
She further added, “I’m not delighted my marriage is over, but I’ve accepted it. I’m trying to now embrace the fact I’m single and can make choices that are just about me.”
Now in her first birthday since the split, Ruth took to Instagram to mark her 65th birthday. Posting a picture of herself on the beach looking towards the golden sunset, the presenter captioned it: “So this is 65…..thank you for all your lovely birthday messages,” alongside a red love heart emoji.
Her celebrity pals flooded to comments section sending their birthday wishes. Penny Lancaster said: “Enjoy”, as Corrie’s Sally Dynevor commented: “Happy Birthday Ruth. Looks wonderful enjoy.” While fellow presenter Richard Arnold left a red heart emoji alongside the word “Love”.
This comes after Ruth said last month that she doesn’t want to end up alone after Eamonn moved on soon after with his new girlfriend, Katie Alexander. Eight months after their split, Ruth also explained that her recent weight loss is down to the stress of her split with Eamonn and their ongoing divorce.
The TV star told Woman and Home Magazine: “A break-up of a relationship is hard enough for anybody to deal with. A divorce is very difficult and it’s very painful, but most people don’t have to do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion about you and writing things about you and commenting things about you.
“But that’s the nature of my job. I’ve always had that and if you can’t cope with that, you shouldn’t be doing this job. I’m quite fine being on my own, but not forever. When you’re in a relationship, it’s easy to say, ‘Great, I’ve got a weekend to myself,’ but when you think that might be every weekend, it’s a different story.”
Opening up about her recent weight loss, Ruth said: “I have lost weight. Divorce obviously has something to do with it but I also went for a hormone check and rebalance, which helped. It could also hopefully mean that I’m coming to the end of menopause.”
Since confirming her split from Eamonn back in May, Ruth has been positively glowing, and it’s not just a change in lifestyle that’s caught the eye. The presenter has reportedly lost an impressive stone and a half since the breakup. Fans on Instagram haven’t missed a beat, showering her with praise for her transformation.
