Samsung might rule the roost when it comes to Android phones but one firm is fighting back with a very impressive new device.
Samsung has been leading the way when it comes to foldable smartphones but its Android rivals are fighting back. Motorola, OnePlus and Google have all launched impressive bendable upgrades in recent months which get screens that snap in half to make them easier to pocket.
Now there’s even more competition for Samsung to fend off and what’s coming soon to the UK looks mightily impressive.
Chinese smartphone brand Honor has just held the European launch of its striking new Magic V3 device and it features a super slimline design that Samsung can’t currently match.
This is now the “world’s thinnest” foldable and it could finally make owning one of these devices appear far more appealing.
Once snapped shut, it measures in at just 9.2mm thick, that’s only just thicker than the 7.6mm iPhone 15.
When you open things up it feels more like a sheet of glass than. phone (it’s just 4.35mm thick) and is far less cumbersome than previous folding phones – weighing in at just 226g it’s also ludicrously light.
On the front there’s a 6.43-inch cover screen with the visuals boosted to a tablet-style 7.92-inches once you open it up.
Head under the shell and it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. There’s also long battery life, rapid 66W charging and plenty of software features to help you multitask on the huge screen.
Those who love snapping photos will also find a triple-lens camera on the rear case which offers Telephoto and Ultra-wide photography. Clever AI will also boost images and make them Instagram-ready in a flash.
So how much is the V3 going to cost?
UK pricing has been set at £1,699 which is slightly cheaper than Samsung’s Galaxy ZFold 5.
Of course, Samsung remains a much-loved brand and you might not fancy risking switching to Honor.
However, if you’re in the market for a new foldable the V3 is definitely worth a look as this phone’s design is genuinely impressive.
Expect to see it arrive in stores soon.
