Selena Gomez started dating record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco in June 2023 and, after long speculation, the couple finally confirmed they’re getting married
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have today confirmed their engagement – and this time it’s for real.
The 32-year-old singer showed off her diamond sparkler in pictures she shared on Instagram today, with the caption: “Forever begins now”. She has been dating Benny, 36, since June 2023 and, in August this year, sparked speculation they were going to tie the knot by sharing cheeky images on social media.
But now the star of Wizards of Waverly Place said she is indeed going to marry Benny, who has co-produced and co-written some of her music. She posted several smiley snaps on Instagram, where she has more than 422 million followers.
Gomez beams while sitting on a picnic blanket happily staring at her ring in one picture and, in another, the star cuddles up to Benny, for a sweet embrace as he gives her a kiss on the head.
In her rogue post in August, the Emilia Pérez star shared a photo of herself posing in front of a mirror, but placed two very strategic hearts over her left ring finger. Benny, for his part, also appeared in the image but was not facing toward the camera.
“She’s covering her finger!! Are they….,” one fan wondered, while another more confidently said: “She’s def engaged.” This led to the rumours the couple were engaged, which has led to speculation in the build-up to the real deal.
Prior to this, the couple had been coy about their romance as they only confirmed it on social media in December last year – some six months after they started dating. Fans had mixed reactions to the relationship announcement back then, with some calling out how the songwriter had previously worked and been friends with Gomez’s ex Justin Bieber.
However, the Love On songstress fiercely defended her decision to date Blanco. Gomez wrote on social media at the time that the record producer was “the best thing that’s ever happened” to her, adding, “He’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with. Facts.” The couple’s inner circles have reportedly backed their romance as well.
