Reform UK suspended Paul Carnell, who was their candidate in Cannock Chase, Staffs after viewing the Sunday Mirror’s evidence
A reform UK candidate is today shamed for sharing a stage with a Hitler fan.
Paul Carnell had been hoping for local election triumph with the party, which insists it is “not racist”. But he organised and addressed a demo against migrants last year alongside members of far-right group Patriotic Alternative.
Video footage shows Carnell with its rabble rousers, including Sam Melia, 34 – a Nazi admirer now serving a two-year jail sentence for stirring up racial hatred.
After seeing our evidence, Reform suspended Carnell, who was their candidate in Cannock Chase, Staffs.
Images of his appearance at the migrant rally were uncovered by Hope Not Hate.
It also found Carnell has attended far-right activist Tommy Robinson’s demos.
The research group has exposed another Reform UK local election candidate.
It said Plymouth-based William Bertram’s “countless offensive posts on Facebook ” include a demand that “no Muslim or communist should be allowed to hold any public office”.
Reform UK said it had withdrawn support from both Carnell and Bertram at the elections.
