It comes as Apple hints at a huge new 2024 iPad upgrade for next week, in its global ‘Let Loose’ event

Tech consumers on the lookout for a new tablet, be it for work, studying, gaming or just a simple social scroll, will know that upgrading to a new device isn’t cheap. Sky Mobile’s newest iPad contract may just make it a lot more affordable per month to get your hands on a 10.9-inch model.

The contract costs £13 a month and you can add 5GB of data for just £5 a month, one of its adjacent deals that’d save you £150 across the full plan. A tempting deal for anyone who doesn’t have hundreds of pounds in their pocket to buy the device upfront…plus you’ll have the ease of a data plan too.

Paying upfront for the relatively new 2022 10.9-inch iPad model would cost techies £379 so it could be seen as a no-brainer…almost. With a new Apple model on its way and a sneaky T&C in the contract, you may be better off waiting.

While anyone who picks Sky Mobile’s more affordable price and by that we mean it’s a lot lower amount to swallow per month than paying upfront – will save £180 by pairing data with the iPad you may be caught out by its hefty 48-month minimum contract term. Yes, Sky’s £13 a month iPad offer will lock you in for four years costing a hefty £624 in the long run.

It’s a T&C we too at Mirror Tech have fallen for before and certainly worth flagging for eager shoppers, it’s affordable price offers a much easier way to upgrade your model but you will pay more overall than if you went outright. It’s not always the clearest either (which is why we’re here), while Sky will let you choose to swap your device after either 24 or 36 months you have to commit to 48 months’ worth of spending.

The next catch is all down to Apple, as the brand is just days away from launching what experts think will be a brand-new 2024 iPad Air and iPad Pro range. And if you don’t believe us just take Apple’s CEO Tim Cook’s words for it, as he posted to X: “Pencil us in for May 7” along with the #Apple Event and a pencil emoji.

Apple’s upcoming ‘Let Loose’ event will take place in Cupertino, California as the brand is expected to launch new Apple pencil, iPad, and software upgrades. In a rival tablet deal, anyone who sees themselves as an Android user, not iOS (we appreciate the divide) can opt for Samsung’s price drop on the Galaxy Tab S8+ model, saving £300.
