Complaints that they have kit that doesn’t fit, and there is no equipment, no transport to matches – and no pitch to play on

The women’s team from National League outfit Solihull Moors has gone public with scathing criticism of the club.

A statement published on social media by one of the players – and re-posted by team coach Tom Blaymires – has complained about ‘the neglect, broken promises and lack of respect,’ they feel they are being shown.

They have accused the club of failing them on several different levels.

It was posted by Alex Liddiard and read: “We have endured conditions that no team, at any level, should be expected to tolerate.

“Ill-fitting kits, a lack of basic equipment, no provision of transportation for games hours away, and most concerning, no guaranteed pitch to play midweek fixtures on.

“A few weeks ago, we were forced to forgeit a cup game against West Bromwich Albion Women due to the club’s failure to secure a pitch. This resulted in a significant fine but also saw us removed from both the League Cup and League Plate competitions.

“Now, with two months’ notice of our upcoming league fixture against Worcester City women, we find ourselves in the same position. The club has informed us there is no pitch available.

“If we are forced to forfeit again, we face a potential points deduction and another fine – consequences beyond our control. Shockingly, our own club wanted to charge us £2,600 to allow us access to the men’s pitch.

“We cannot help but ask: Would the men’s team ever be placed in this position?”

The post goes on to highlight a lack of exposure on social media and integration within the club. It finishes with the sentence: ‘We deserve better.”

Solihull Moors have been contacted for a reply and, at present, are due to release a statement later today.
