Former Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard has announced his engagement to girlfriend Zara Zoffany after two years together
AJ Pritchard has revealed he is engaged to girlfriend Zara Zoffany after popping the question in London’s Hyde Park. The former Strictly Come Dancing professional, 29, confirmed the news unexpectedly while on stage at the Smiley Awards, where host Lisa Snowdon congratulated him.
Clearly caught off guard, AJ responded: “She’s out there with a lovely ring on, so we weren’t officially out there, but now we are. And I will now post the video – me and my little fiancée, we’re engaged. It’s very romantic. It’s out there now, Zara.” The surprise moment was captured by AJ’s brother, Curtis Pritchard, who cheered from the audience.
As AJ returned to his seat, Zara greeted him with a beaming smile before the couple shared a kiss. Curtis later joked about the unplanned reveal, teasing: “He was trying to keep it a secret, but now everyone knows.” Speaking about his fiancée before the announcement, AJ described Zara as “the kindest person” and someone who always lifts him up when he needs support.
He also shared that the engagement ring was designed by one of Zara’s close friends and that she was “caught off guard” but “very happy” when he proposed. Although fans had speculated that AJ proposed in Paris, he confirmed the romantic moment actually took place in London. When asked about wedding plans, he laughed: “I’ll enjoy the engagement for now.”
Zara, who has appeared on reality shows including The Royal World and The Challenge, previously hinted at the engagement when she flashed a diamond ring in a birthday post in February. AJ shared his excitement for the evening: “I’m excited to be here tonight. It’s one of my favourite awards.”
The pair have been together for two years. Earlier this month, AJ hinted he proposed to the brunette stunner, who just turned 30 on Saturday – after they began dating in 2022. The couple celebrated Zara’s birthday with friends at a lavish restaurant, and the birthday-girl took to her social media page to share snaps from the bash. In one photo, Zara held her left hand with a dazzling diamond ring upto the camera along with a caption reading: ‘MISS ENGAGED @zarazoffany.’
