JB Gill’s wife Chloe Tangney has revealed her thoughts on her husband’s Strictly Come Dancing partner Amy Dowden, who was absent from last year’s show due to having breast cancer treatment
JB Gill and Amy Dowden have both made a triumphant return to the dance floor, quickly becoming one of the show’s best performers.
The JLS star and pro dancer, who was absent in last year’s show due to having breast cancer treatment, got off to an excellent start after their Waltz landed them at the top of the leaderboard. Last week, the duo scored an impressive 32 points from Strictly judges for their American Smooth to Pure Imagination from the Wonka film, recovering from their 27 point Cha Cha in week two.
Now, the pair are aiming to reclaim their top position and get closer to the Glitterball Trophy after rehearsing the Rumba non-stop to You Might Need Somebody by Kara Marni. In contrast to the infamous Strictly ‘curse’, JB and Amy’s partnership has received a nod of approval from the celeb’s wife, Chloe Tangney.
In an interview with Radio Times before the show aired, the duo were asked whether they ‘good rapport’ with each other. “Yeah, we definitely do,” Amy replied. “And we kept being put together [by producers], so I definitely had an inkling.”
JB agreed, adding: “My wife said ‘I think they want you to be with Amy’. I was very hopeful that I would get her. I’ve met Amy before and she’s lovely. I knew I’d be in good hands.”

Off-screen, JB has been filling in his wife in with the latest gossip from the show. In a viral Instagram post, the couple shared a lip-syncing skit to a scene from the Disney film Little Mermaid, where Scuttle informs Ariel that Prince Eric is going to marry the sea witch in disguise. JB even went to the effort of dressing up in shades and putting on a backpack to create the hilarious video.
“What happens on Strictly, stays on Strictly … But BOY is it juicy,” he captioned the post, which caught the eye of fellow contestant and Love Island alumni Tasha Ghouri. You two are epic and Chloe’s acting is SOO GOOOD,” she wrote in the comments section.
JB and Chloe first met while Chloe was a back-dancer for JLS, which she describes as the ‘best day of her life’. The loved up couple tied the knot back in January 2014 after four years of being together and have since welcomed their son, Ace, and daughter, Chiara Sapphire.
