Former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse shared that she was left in tears over parenthood, with her having told her followers in a recent emotional video that she was ‘not ok’

Oti Mabuse shared that she was “not ok” after getting emotional over parenthood recently.

The professional dancer, 33 – best known for having previously been on Strictly Come Dancing – and her husband Marius Iepure, 41, welcomed their daughter, now five months old, in October last year. The couple shared the news at Christmas with a photo of the family in festive pyjamas and have chosen not to disclose their child’s name.

Oti has kept fans updated on parenthood in posts on social media since then. The latest saw the Dancing on Ice judge looking emotional whilst travelling on a train. She posted a video on Instagram where she appeared to be teary-eyed and told her followers that she had got upset after seeing an Easter parade at a school close to where she lives.

She captioned the video: “Looking at myself on [the] train after I cried because the school near my house held an Easter parade for the kiddies and I already imagined my daughter moving out, going to study in university on another continent because she found out I tracked her on iPhone find Me and wants independence.”

Despite adding a laughing emoji, Oti commented elsewhere over the video: “I’m not ok**.” She also shared the video on her page itself, writing in the accompanying caption on the platform on Thursday: “The hormones are giving.”

The post prompted reaction from fans, with some sharing their own experiences in the comments section. One person wrote: “Yup, It took me by surprise when it first happened.” Another said: “Standard mum behaviour! Goes with the territory! I still do it and my youngest is 23! Hope you’re ok Oti.”

Another is said to have commented: “All parents go through this. You are not alone.” Whilst a fourth said: “Yup cried in the car yesterday thinking about my kids going to uni and not staying with me. Hormone snot cry is real.” Another said: “It happens to all of us. Welcome to motherhood. When my daughter left home […] l cried my heart out for days. It was her first job and her first time leaving the nest. Bless you, Oti.”

Oti has previously spoke about her daughter’s birth, saying that she was born prematurely in October and was put in an incubator with jaundice. She discussed the experience on This Morning last month and in other interviews since the birth.

It’s been reported that her daughter, who was born two months early, was at risk of infection when she was born due to Oti having developed sepsis. Oti, who like her daughter is said to have since recovered, shared: “She was in the NICU for about six weeks, she came two months early, which was totally unexpected.

“And actually I gave birth at the UCLH, it was so amazing the NHS and I’ve said this so many times. I don’t usually get sick so I’m never usually in hospital and so I never really have to use the NHS that much but then I really needed them and they were incredible. We were taken care of so much.”
