A terrifying fight broke out between two gangs brandishing long knives on Kingsland High Street, in Hackney, London, in broad daylight as shoppers watched on in horror

The fight broke out on a busy shopping street

A group of youths have been filmed running down the street and fighting in broad daylight on a busy high street causing panic for shoppers.

The gangs, dressed in black and wearing masks, were seen clashing on Kingsland High Street, in Hackney, London, with footage shared across social media. The footage showed a confrontation outside a Starbucks, with both groups carrying knives with long blades, and for a while they appeared to be threatening each other as they postured with the weapons.

But at one point one of the youths falls to the floor and this is the moment that the other gang appear to seize the opportunity to pounce on him. Two people rush at him with knives but the person on the floor quickly gets up and runs down the street.

He is chased by the other pair who are brandishing their knives at him and he then drops his own weapon which is picked up by another gang member. It was all played out in front of shoppers and other pedestrians on Wednesday at around 6pm with many people running away so they didn’t get caught up in the clash.

One onlooker can be heard shouting “he dropped his sami [samurai sword]” as one of the blades fell to the floor, and then both gangs ran away. The violence erupted quickly and police arrived on the scene following a call from a member of the public.

Two teenagers were arrested and they have now been charged over the incident where no serious injuries were reported. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 16-year-old and 15-year-old were both arrested.

A 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of affray and a 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon. The 15-year-old has since been released on bail said a statement from the Metropolitan police

A force spokesperson told The Mirror: “Police have charged a 16-year-old boy in relation to an incident in Hackney. Police were called at around 18:00hrs on Wednesday, 15 October to reports of an altercation on Kingsland High Street in Dalston.

“Officers attended and arrested a 16-year-old boy from Waltham Forest on suspicion of affray. He was charged with this offence on Thursday, 16 October and remanded to appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 17 October.

“A 15-year-old boy from Hackney also arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon has been released on bail. No one was injured in the incident.”
