The much-awaited new series of Bridgerton is finally back on our screens and viewers are already enjoying getting stuck into the period drama. As well as the fashion being on point, the beauty looks were also firmly of the right era, favouring natural, fresh-faced appearances that mimicked the makeup looks of the time.
With clean beauty still very much trending right now, it’s no surprise that we’ll all be drawing a little bit of inspiration from the Brdigerton cast when it comes to our summer makeup, and there’s one hero product that was used on set to nail the hydrated, fresh-faced glow; Dr. PAWPAW’s Original Balm, £7.25 here.
The balm was used during the first two seasons of Bridgerton on the lips of many main characters including Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings, and was used to provide protection from the elements they encountered during filming. It’s also racked up an impressive celebrity fan base, with A-listers like Alicia Keys, Emma Watson, Victoria Beckham, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman all known to use the balm.
It’s enriched with a trio of hero ingredients, the most prominent of which is pawpaw (also known as papaya fruit) extract. It also contains olive oil and aloe vera, all of which work together to give lips a major hydration boost as well as soothing any chapped or sore skin.
It’s not just your lips that can benefit from the balm either, as it can be used on your face, hair, body, eyebrows and even cuticles to help hydrate your skin. You can even use it as a moisturising face mask, as a primer for dry skin, or as a dewy highlighter on your cheekbones, making it truly a makeup bag hero.
The Dr. PAWPAW Peach Pink Balm, £7 here, also made an appearance on the set, with the pink tinted version being used to give cast members a natural-looking blush. You can also use it on your eyelids for a subtle flush of dewy colour that’s perfect for summer makeup looks.
Shoppers have also been singing its praises, with one saying: “I love this stuff. Does exactly what it says. No weird smells. It doesn’t leave any oily substance behind or feel too oily at all. I have repurchased this product a few times. Good price as well!”
Another wrote: “I love most of the Dr paw paw products. I bought this for my sister and she loves it. Her skin as been a bit sensitive and peeling after derma planning. This has really helped heal her skin.”
Whilst a third added: “This was so moisturising without feeling heavy or greasy. Use it mostly on lips and it leaves them silky soft. It immediately has a strong nutty scent but goes away quickly . I’d definitely recommend it’s a huge tube for the price.”
Another firm favourite in our makeup bags is Carmex, which has a whole host of different lip care products available. From squeezy tubs to solid tubs, whichever way you prefer to hydrate your lips you can find a Carmex formula for it.
It also contains lanolin and cacao seed butter which help to nourish and hydrate your skin, smoothing away dry flakes and leaving them feeling softer without a greasy residue. No makeup bag is complete without a great lip balm, and when they’re this affordable it’s no wonder we seem to have them stashed in every handbag and coat pocket we own!
