After last weekend’s London and Manchester Marathons, we were reminded of the runner who beat a world record in a pair of Crocs, and we’ve found where to shop them on sale for £35

With the London Marathon on our minds, we can’t forget the record-winning runner who completed a sub-3 hour marathon in a pair of Crocs. Yes, you heard that right, those chunky rubber clogs that your mum probably wears around the garden.

It’s time for Nike and New Balance to move over as there’s clearly a new running shoe in town. It turns out they’re not just comfortable, but they can give you some serious speed as well.

And if that wasn’t enough, the exact Crocs in question were fluorescent yellow and donned with Lightning McQueen jibbitz.

The record for running in Crocs, which the 2024 Manchester Marathon runner (Chris Howett) was looking to break, was 3 hours and 2 minutes. He ended up doing so in 2 hours and 58 minutes, not to mention that it was his first marathon ever.

The Classic Crocs are usually priced at between £40 and £50, although currently the yellow ones are £34.99 on Schuh, roughly between £100 and £200 cheaper than your average pair of running trainers.

Playing into the fun footwear choice, Chris opted for some very appropriate jibbitz, attaching a Lightning McQueen one (available to shop for £4.99 on the Crocs website) to his clogs.

If you needed any further proof that Crocs are some of the most comfortable shoes of all time (even comfortable enough to run 26 miles in), here it is…

Shop trending Crocs

Lilac Crocs Classic Clog Sandals

Available for £50 here

You really can’t go wrong with the classics, and as Chris proved, they are good enough for a marathon. This lilac shade is perfect for the warmer months, and the fully moulded foam construction helps to provide all-day comfort.

Print Crocs Classic Leopard Print Clog Sandals

Available for £55 here

Leopard print is still a huge trend, so why not combine it with a pair of Classic Crocs? This fun animal print pair are a Schuh exclusive, and we think they are a perfect way to jazz up the standard style without having to switch to another shape.

Crocs Getaway Platform Flip

Available from £23.99 here

Of course, these platform flip-flops are not at all suitable for running, but they are perfect for the summer months. They look a bit more stylish than the Classic Clogs, but they still maintain that lightweight comfort.

It is worth noting, however, that we obviously do not recommend trying this one yourself, as you can do some serious damage running long distances without the proper footwear.
