The One Show’s Alex Jones has shared her harrowing experience of an “awful” week that resulted in her youngest daughter being hospitalised.

Alex, aged 47, who relocated from the bustling city of London to the serene countryside last year with her husband Charlie Thomson and their three kids Teddy, six, Kit, four, and Annie, two, opened up on the Binge! podcast alongside co-host Harry Judd. She recounted the distressing events that led to Annie ending up in a cast and “looking like a pizza” due to a series of health woes.

When Harry inquired about her well-being, she responded: “We have had a bloody awful week I won’t lie to you. Can you swear on a podcast? Terrible week. So basically we came back from skiing with no broken bones and then Annie broke her arm.”

Harry was taken aback by the news, as Alex explained that the injury occurred while Kit and Annie were playfully “reenacting Gladiators” on the sofa, reports Wales Online.

The mother of three continued: “They got on an arm each, clashed in the middle, and somehow Kit fell against Annie’s elbow and you know when you know because the cry is different? And we really tried to brush it under the carpet like the good parents we are.

“But the next day she was still beside herself and it was swollen. Yeah broken, clean break at the elbow. So plaster cast past her elbow but ready for the next layer? She’s also got chicken pox and she’s covered in it.”

Describing the ordeal as “10/10 parenting hell” Alex revealed that little Annie “looked like a pizza” after being smothered in spots from chicken pox.

Harry described her week as a shocker when Alex revealed that during the podcast recording, her poorly daughter had only made it to nursery once in the month.

In a recent update, Alex returned to their podcast to dish out the usual TV recommendations, with Netflix’s Adolescence starring Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters being her fresh pick.

Alex couldn’t contain her enthusiasm about the first episode, declaring: “It is the most gripping hour of television I’ve ever seen.”

And she didn’t stop there, adding emphatically: “It is horrific because what you’re thinking is this could happen to anybody. It is honestly the best hour of telly I’ve ever seen that first episode.”
